POLYMATH STUDIES — MALTEGO BEGINNER GUIDE Purpose Maltego creates visual graphs showing relationships among public entities such as domains, email addresses, DNS records, organizations, and infrastructure. Ethical Rule Use only your own information, approved lab targets, or information you are authorized to investigate. First Graph 1. Download Maltego from the official website. 2. Create or sign in to a Maltego account. 3. Select New Graph. 4. Drag an entity from the Entity Palette onto the graph. 5. For a safe first exercise, choose a Domain entity and enter a domain you own. 6. Right-click the entity. 7. Read each transform description before running it. 8. Run a basic DNS or website transform. 9. Review the new nodes and connecting lines. 10. Save the graph and write down which transform produced each result. Example Starting entity: example.com Possible results: DNS names, MX records, name servers, IP addresses, and website technologies. Interpretation Rules - A relationship shown by a transform may be historical or indirect. - Confirm important findings through another source. - Do not treat a matching name as proof of identity.
